Riches Await As Earth's Icy North Melts (summary)

An international race has accelerated by the impact of global warming on the North Pole; Canada and Denmark have staked their claim to Hans island. The ice cap is warming very fast and that puts the organisms in danger. However, others think to make money and to find short shipping routes. The Norwegian oil company plans to start tapping gas from an offshore oilfield, and Norwegians are hoping to have a place to use their technology in the Shaktom natural gas field in Russia. Arvid Jense, said that “oil will bring geopolitical focus. It is a driving force in the Arctic”.
The dispute erupted two times between Canada and Denmark. Although, both countries sent warships to the island the peace was preserved. There was no shooting war.
The first ship which reached to the North Pole without an icebreaker’s help was Russian. The Norwegian ships sail forward in clear water and then turn around to use their sterns through heavier ice. The representative of the American transportation company which moved more than 50000 tons of grain through the Churchill port said that “the company doesn’t think about the climate change”.
The global warming has appeared in the last 10 years, Ogborn said. The old reports say the ice would melt after 100 years but the latest reports say it will melt in the next 5-10 years. Canada’s military is claiming sovereignty over the frigid water. Fish are moving to the colder waters and thus into the different countries, so Russia contests with Norway on the Svalbard islands which are rich in fish.

Main Idea is :
Canada, Denmark, the USA and Russia are competing in the Arctic to benefit from oil and fish.

Comments:
The competition can make good profits. Unfortunately, the big problem is that developed countries are not thinking about the global warming seriously; they talk about it and make a lot of research only for other countries and then they ignore it.

Task 3 An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth movie is for Mr. Gore who was going to be the president of the US. Mr. Gore is talking about the global warming, how it will affect our earth and what are the ways to try to avoid it. He points out some causes of global warming like increasing the population and tobacco companies and trucks which are polluting the environment.
The movie is very clear what it is talking about. Mr. Gore used some new ways for attracting the audience’s attention like moving from the topic to his real life, dissecting the graphs clearly so that anyone can be able to understand, using an excellent example of frog and joking to let the audience get out from the bored condition into the fun condition. An Inconvenient Truth is a sensitive movie about what would happen for our earth if we don’t save it from the pollution. Finally, he gives us some advice to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and we should know how to protect our earth from the global warming.

(Task 2) Introduction to Global Warming

Global warming is a very bad condition of the weather; scientists surely think global warming is here now and it is going to increase year after year. Global warming means the temperature of the earth will be increased and the ice of both poles will melt. The earth will be like an oven and the heat can’t get out from the atmosphere. Everything on the earth will be endangered, the animals will die and no plants can grow.
The most important cause of global warming is the emissions of cars, planes and trains. Anything that produces the heat or smoke or harmful gases assists global warming, so we should be aware of that and we should take this issue seriously; it is connected to our environment, where we live. If our environment faces this problem we can’t live our life properly and we will face a lot of problems. Scientists are trying to find solutions to avoid this problem; they are warning all world countries to reduce the emissions of the gas and oil fuels and try to use alternative energy.
